  • Handle major corporate accounts including Hilton, Marriott, IHG among others while producing a territory in excess of $4,500,000. 

  • Work with customers to navigate through their individual procurement systems including Hilton Supply Management, BirchStreet, Avendra and OneSource.

  • Served as the main point of contact between the Owner, Supplier and Manufacture to assure all products would arrive within the project due dates.

Professional Goals
  • My first personal goal is to get involved with different committees through the Conrad N. Hilton College. I would like to work with undergraduates and the professional community to grow the presence of the Conrad N. Hilton College. 

  • My first professional goal is to become a Project Executive for my company. This position is typically responsible for between three to five states. This position deals will renovations and new-build hotels. They work directly with general contractors, management companies, architects and owners.

  • My second professional goal consists of three parts. First, I would like to graduate with my Master's degree. Second, I would like to pass the Certified Hospitality Industry Analytics exam and the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive exam. Third, I would like to receive my Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate. Each of these three goals would give me a unique and high level skill set to help me prepare for my third career goal.

  • My third professional goal is to become a National Account Manager for one of the big hotel chains. I would like to be a National Account Manager for Hilton, Marriott, IHG or Choice. This position deals with all of the accounts for that specific hotel brand. You are responsible for growing the HD Supply business within that hotel brand on a national level. 

Leadership Style

My leadership strengths consist of  building relationships, improving negative relationships between the customer and my company, and a competitive spirit. 

  • I believe that to be a leader you first must earn your peers' respect. 

  • I have always believed that winning is important but not everything. You have to be respectful and do things the right way. I believe that my competitive spirit helps me understand how to be competitive while doing the right thing. 

I feel that I am a combination of a Contributing Team Member and a Competent Manager

  • As a Contributing Team Member I like to show my peers that I understand what they are going through and I have their back. I have always believed that you will earn your peers' respect if they know that you have their back no matter what. 

  • As a Competent Manager I like to make sure that I am pointing my peers in the right direction. If we have a predetermined objective I want to make sure my team is working towards that goal and not some other goal. 

My name is Matthew Decker from Houston, Texas. I am a Field Account Executive for HD Supply. I am currently attending the University of Houston Conrad Hilton College pursing my Master's degree in Executive Management with the Hospitality Industry. I received my undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University with a bachelors degree in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management. 

I live in Houston, Texas with my wife Megan and my two dogs Duke and Daisy. We love spending time with our dogs, traveling and attending Houston Astros games.

My Executive Master's program requires a program long project of an individuals choosing. 

I have decided to do a project on Hilton and HD Supply Property Improvement division. My project is focused through the eyes of my company HD Supply. I am focusing on new areas of growth for HD Supply Property Improvement and the partnership with Hilton. What areas of the hotel should HD Supply to focus on and what parts of the country should HD Supply to focus on.
